Position Summary

 Job Objective
The Assistant Librarian is responsible to support with daily operations and services of the campus’ library aimed at HCT students and faculty. The incumbent is responsible to provide front desk services to students and faculty in a timely and accurate manner.

Main Responsibilities
Operational
Catalogue and classify library resources in compliance with policies, procedures and processes; this includes, but is not limited to, books, audio-visual materials, CD-ROMs, newspapers.
Maintain library stationery supplies.
Monitor the use of library resources, maintain up-to-date, accurate and comprehensive user records, and prepare and communicate overdue notices as and when needed.
Manage inter-college loan transactions and prepare and communicate overdue notices as and when needed.
Support with the development and delivery of information literacy instructional sessions to staff, faculty and students to enable them to conduct literature searchers.
Promote reading and the use of library resources to students and faculty within the campus.
Maintain the Library and Learning Centre website.
Assist students and faculty in the operation of library computers and software as and when needed.
Respond to user inquiries related to the campus’ library in a timely, effective and efficient manner.
Develop and maintain an up-to-date, accurate and comprehensive library resources database.

Requirements

 Qualifications
• Minimum of a Bachelor’s degree in a relevant field is required e.g. Library and Information Science, Information and Documentation Management.
• Full English and Arabic proficiency are required.
• Advanced computer skills is required e.g. MS Office.

Experience
• Minimum of two years of relevant work experience in Library.
