Position Summary

 

The Senior Specialist of division specific learning resources plays a key role in supporting the implementation of the division strategic goals and objectives related to consistency of laboratories equipment and their renewal and maintenance contracts among campuses, specific software and upgrade, liaison with facilities at the campuses, maintains close supervisory relationship with laboratory instructors and teaching and laboratory assistants to continuously improve of program learning resources. The key role is to ensure equity of division/program teaching resources across all campuses. This Senior Specialist works closely with academic leadership, course team leaders, and laboratory instructors to identify, budget and acquire common teaching and learning resources in terms of lab equipment, software, handbooks, digital learning objects, identify and arrange for PDs and assess the utilization of the teaching resources across the system.

Requirements

 ACADEMIC QUALIFICATION
• Master's degree from an accredited college in a discipline relevant to the respective Division. PhD degree a plus.
• Five years of relevant work experience; previous experience working in similar institution is desirable.

SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE
The candidate should have an excellent working knowledge of the learning resources required for Education programs and school curriculum delivery. Ability to maintain accurate and up to date knowledge of requirements within the division and related areas of specialization. Excellent academic focus and utilization of support educational technology. Ability to be flexible and adapt to a rapidly changing work environment. Knowledge of Copyright and IP rights legislation. Ability to work independently, organize and prioritise workload to meet deadlines and work to agreed standards. A current record of research and publication.

LANGUAGE
• Fluency in written and spoken English is essential
• Working knowledge of Arabic desirable.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
• Support the implementation of the division strategic goals and objectives related to applied research and continuous improvement of division learning resources.
• Conduct an audit of the learning resource available to students and faculty across all campuses that are offering the programs.
• Work in coordination with programs academic leaderships, course team leaders, DAC and executive dean to draw up and execute a plan to ensure equity of high quality learning resources for all students and programs offered under the division.
• Develop strategies, processes and to ensure utilization of learning resources by faculty and students
• Facilitate and supervise division lectures online, mobile and organize relevant professional development.
• Ensures consistent quality and quantity of the laboratory resources across campuses. Monitor utilization of these resources and develop plans of their upgrade and maintenance
• Follows up on division software utilization, implementation in the curriculum, and timely renewal and upgrade
• Lead Lab instructors meetings on the system wide development of the division learning resources
• Work with course team leaders to keep updating and quality lab manual, tutorials, and independent learning resources for each course.
• Lead the implementation of inquiry based laboratories in the division
• Identifies International and national competitions for students capstone project
• Promote common templates for BBLearn, Sway and other authoring tools and LMS.
• Identify video conference technologies, practices and training requirements to sustain the use of video conference and virtual learning environment (VLE) in providing students with access to courses.
