Position Summary

Faculty provide effective instruction in the HCT's Bachelor of Education program, specifically in the areas of Early Childhood Education, English Language Teaching in Schools, Primary Education, and Mathematics and Science Education at Primary and Secondary levels. Curriculum is taught to second language learners within a student-centric learning environment that fosters respect for students, their culture, and their traditions. Faculty play an important role in assisting with the development and preservation of system-wide and directorate-specific policies, and are viewed as active participants in academic and extra-curricular events at the College and within the community.

Adjunct Faculty are temporary teaching staff employed within the college to enhance student learning, and who bring with them a wide array of practical knowledge and varied experience. To be considered for an adjunct position, candidates must reside in the UAE and be able to provide the HCT with a 'no objection certificate' (referred to as an NOC letter) from your visa sponsor. Adjunct faculty are paid monthly for credit hours.

Requirements

PhD in the discipline is required.

  • Master's Degree holders with significant teaching experience may be considered when the Master's Degree is in a relevant discipline with the major clearly defined.
  • Must Have Early Childhood Education Experience or certifications "preferred in montessori"
  • A professional teaching qualification inclusive of teaching methodology and supervised practical teaching (e.g. B.Ed., PGCE, M.Teach, etc.).
  • A TESOL qualification is desirable.
  • Appropriate academic professional qualifications as required.
  • At least 3 years of practical teaching experience in a relevant educational setting (i.e. Early Childhood Education, Primary, Primary Mathematics, Primary Science, Primary English, Secondary Maths, Science or English or ELTS)
  • At least 3 years of experience within a teacher education department at a tertiary level, or equivalent, demonstrating experience mentoring trainees or new teachers and observations in school settings
  • Demonstrated expertise in curriculum and instructional strategies incorporating Educational Technology
  • Must be able to provide instruction at various levels within the program areas
  • Possess specialist knowledge and the ability to operate specialist programs and equipment
  • Have effective presentation skills, both theoretical and practical
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills and a demonstrated competency to interact with people at all levels of the organization
  • A high degree of computer literacy and demonstrated ability to integrate technology into the learning environment and teaching methodology
  • Have current knowledge of industry practices, trends and issues
  • Demonstrate the ability to function as a team player within a multi-cultural work environment
  • Overseas teaching and training experience to non-native English speakers is desirable
