Position Summary

The Technical Services Department (TSD) Coordinator is responsible for oversight of the college's IT, networking and telecommunication facilities. As a support specialist, the incumbent serves as a technical resource for all college stakeholders, advising IT infrastructure and providing management with periodic analysis and reports. The Coordinator contributes to continuous process improvements by researching and recommending new technologies which will support HCT in its strategic objectives.

In support of Emiratization, HCT may exercise flexibility with the experience or education requirement in order to recruit UAE National candidates who show potential for success in the role.

  • A Bachelor's Degree in an IT relevant discipline
  • Relevant Cisco and Microsoft certifications are required
  • A minimum 5 years of telecommunications or networking operations experience
  • Previous experience leading the specification, selection, installation and evaluation of network and communication systems
  • Extensive knowledge of Internet protocol suite (TCP/IP), IP addressing schemes and routing protocols (e.g. - OSFP); and internet technology standards
  • Previous experience working with Cisco routers, Active Directory based systems, VLANs, VPNs, Link aggregation and various network security tools
  • Familiarity with a range of Quality of Service (QoS) technologies and implementation
  • Experience with audio and video conferencing systems and ISDN
  • Expertise in the design and implementation of structured cabling systems
  • Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced environment in order to complete projects simultaneously to deadlines
  • Previous experience supervisory or leadership experience
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills and a demonstrated competency to explain complex technical concepts with people at all levels of the organization
  • Highly developed organizational, analytical and problem solving skills are required
  • The ability to work effectively as a team member in a multi-cultural environment
  • A demonstrated willingness to engage in professional development activities in order to develop and improve new and current skills, and to adapt to the evolving needs of the organization
