The Mechanical Engineering Technician supports faculty and students within one or more Engineering Technology program areas by maintaining the college's laboratories and workshops. The incumbent's scope of work includes the installation, demonstration, maintenance and trouble-shooting of equipment and facilities. This is a hands-on role which will have the Technician working closely with faculty and students with the laboratory. The Mechanical Engineering Technician sets up the lab in preparation for experiments and may also perform teaching duties within the program.

In support of Emiratization, HCT may exercise flexibility with the experience or education requirement in order to recruit UAE National candidates who show potential for success in the role.

• Bachelors Degree in a relevant field or certification in a professional engineering field is required
• Membership to a relevant internationally-recognized professional association is highly desirable
• Training certificates or diplomas in workshop practices is desirable
• First Aid qualification is desirable
• Minimum 3 years of relevant hands-on experience in a laboratory or workshop
• Practical workshop skills as evident by knowledge of instruments and devices, relevant chemicals used within the lab, and other workshop tools and equipment
• Demonstrated knowledge of shop floor safety protocol
• Strong verbal and written communication skills and a demonstrated competency to interact with people at all levels of the organization
• A demonstrated willingness to engage in professional development activities in order to develop and improve new and current skills, and to adapt to the evolving needs of the organization
• Knowledge of electronics and electrical systems is desirable
• Previous teaching assistant experience is desirable
