Position Summary

 The Senior Specialist – Faculty Development plays a key role in enhancing faculty performance, engagement, and continuous professional growth through the design and implementation of targeted faculty development initiatives. The role contributes to strengthening teaching excellence, research capacity, and leadership development across the academic community. Working closely with academic departments, HR, and institutional leaders, the incumbent ensures that development programs align with institutional strategy, accreditation standards, and global best practices in higher education

Main Responsibilities

  • Contribute to the development and implementation of faculty development strategies aligned with institutional and Faculty Affairs objectives
  • Support policy formulation, quality frameworks, and continuous improvement initiatives related to teaching, learning, and professional growth
  • Collaborate with institutional stakeholders to align faculty development programs with accreditation requirements, talent management goals, and strategic academic initiatives• Plan, design, and deliver professional development programs, workshops, and seminars that enhance teaching effectiveness and academic leadership.
  • Conduct faculty development needs assessments in collaboration with academic leaders and HR to identify priority skill areas.
  • Develop and maintain online learning modules, instructional materials, and digital resources to support continuous learning.
  • Coordinate mentoring and coaching programs to promote faculty engagement, performance, and career progression.
  • Monitor and evaluate faculty development programs through KPIs, feedback surveys, and participation metrics; recommend improvements.
  • Assist in the management of recognition and award programs that celebrate faculty achievements and innovation in teaching and research.
  •  Maintain and update faculty development databases and dashboards to ensure data accuracy and support reporting needs.
  • Liaise with external partners and training providers to integrate innovative pedagogical practices and tools.
  • Support faculty in preparing teaching portfolios, grant proposals, and accreditation-related documentation.
  • Collaborate with the Faculty Advancement team on cross-functional initiatives related to professional learning and academic development.
  • Prepare reports, briefs, and presentations summarizing faculty development outcomes, participation rates, and impact analysis.
  • Promote a culture of lifelong learning and reflective practice through engagement activities and communities of practice

 

Requirements

Qualifications

• Minimum of a Bachelor’s degree in a relevant field is required e.g. Education, Business Administration, or HR Management
• Master’s degree in Higher Education, Education Leadership, Organizational Development is preferred.
• Professional certification in Learning & Development, Instructional Design, or Faculty Development (e.g., ATD, CIPD, or equivalent) is an advantage


  Experience


• Minimum of four years of relevant work experience in faculty affairs, professional development learning design or a related academic administration role
• Proven track record in developing and coordinating academic or professional learning programs
• Experience with learning management systems, digital learning tools, and data-driven program evaluation
