Position Summary

The Engineering Technology & Science Laboratory Instructor supports faculty and students, within one or more Engineering Technology & Science program areas, by maintaining the college's laboratories and workshops. The incumbent's scope of work includes the installation, demonstration, maintenance and trouble-shooting of equipment and facilities. This is a hands-on role which will have the Laboratory Instructor working closely with faculty and students in laboratories and workshops. The Laboratory Instructor sets up the lab in preparation for experiments, and maintain supplies and documentations.

Requirements
  • Bachelor Degree with 3 years of relevant experience.
  • Preference will be given to candidates with Industrial experience, in a relevant engineering field.
  • Membership to a relevant internationally-recognized professional association is desirable.
  • Training certificates or diplomas in workshop practices is desirable.
  • First Aid qualification is desirable.
  • A completed apprenticeship leading to certification in a professional trade would be advantageous
  • Practical workshop skills, as evident by knowledge of instruments and devices, relevant devices used within the laboratory, and other workshop tools and equipment
  • Strong troubleshooting and technical problem-solving skills
  • Demonstrated knowledge of safety protocols
  • A high degree of computer literacy and demonstrated ability to integrate technology in the workplace
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills and a demonstrated competency to interact with people at all levels of the organization
  • The ability to work effectively as part of a team in a multi-cultural environment and to cope with pressure in a positive manner while working to deadlines within a busy and demanding environment
  • A demonstrated willingness to engage in professional development activities in order to develop and improve new and current skills, and to adapt to the evolving needs of the organization
  • Knowledge of electronics and electrical systems is desirable ( when applicable)
  • Previous short span Teaching experience is desirable
  • Hands-On Experience in CNC machines, 3-D printers, Turning machines, PCB routing machines, Pneumatics and hydraulic devices and systems are desirable ( when applicable)
