Position Summary

The Educational Technology Technician is responsible for the administration and support of the educational technologies at the colleges. These duties include the technical and functional support in the daily operations of an enterprise level learning management system and tools to support the development and delivery of learning content. The incumbent interacts with students, faculty and college staff.

Requirements

In support of Emiratization, HCT may exercise flexibility with the experience or education requirement in order to recruit UAE National candidates who show potential for success in the role.

  • A Bachelor's Degree in a relevant discipline, such as Computer Science or Information Systems is required
  • Training certification would be an advantage
  • A minimum of 3 years of related experience, preferably within an educational institution
  • Demonstrated experience in the administration of a learning management system and current educational technology hardware/software
  • Blackboard Vista experience
  • Knowledge of eLearning standards, such as SCORM
  • Knowledge in web authoring, animation and graphics tools such as Dreamweaver, Flash, Fireworks/Photoshop is a must
  • Experience in conducting training with groups or individuals providing hands-on training to adult learners of varying skill levels
  • Demonstrated ability to develop written instructional materials
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills and a demonstrated competency to interact with people at all levels of the organization
  • Demonstrated ability to research and investigate issues as they arise and to work effectively with limited supervision
  • Well-developed organizational skills
  • The ability to work effectively as part of a team in a multi-cultural environment and to cope with pressure in a positive manner while working to deadlines within a busy and demanding environment
  • A demonstrated willingness to engage in professional development activities in order to develop and improve new and current skills, and to adapt to the evolving needs of the organization
