The Health Sciences Technician supports faculty and students within one or more Health Sciences program areas by maintaining the college's laboratories and workshops. The incumbent's scope of work includes the installation, demonstration, maintenance and trouble-shooting of equipment and facilities. This is a hands-on role which will have the Technician working closely with faculty and students with the laboratory. The Health Sciences Technician sets up the lab in preparation for experiments and may also perform teaching duties within the program.

In support of Emiratization, HCT may exercise flexibility with the experience or education requirement in order to recruit UAE National candidates who show potential for success in the role.

• A Bachelor's Degree in a Health Sciences related discipline is required
• Membership to a relevant internationally-recognized professional association is highly desirable
• First Aid qualification is preferred
• A minimum 3 years of relevant hands-on experience in a laboratory or clinical setting
• Practical workshop skills as evident by knowledge of instruments and devices, relevant chemicals used within the lab, and other workshop tools and equipment
• Experience in the acquisition and maintenance of standard equipment and tools
• Strong troubleshooting and problem-solving skills
• Demonstrated knowledge of laboratory health and safety protocol
• The ability to work effectively as part of a team in a multi-cultural environment and to cope with pressure in a positive manner while working to deadlines within a busy and demanding environment
• Previous teaching assistant experience is desirable
• Fluency in written and spoken English is essential
