Position Summary

The Senior Systems Administrator functions as part of the Campus Technology and Infrastructure Services (ITS) team and is primarily responsible for administering, managing, maintaining and implementing HCT Enterprise Systems hosted on-site. The incumbent is also part of the implementation team that carries out projects related to applications hosted within Central Services or on campus. The position contributes to continuously improving the existing IT systems related infrastructure to assist the college's ITS team in achieving its strategic objectives and improving upon the overall effectiveness of the HCT administration process. This also includes the design, planning, documentation, implementation, management and support of data center equipment.

Requirements

In support of Emiratization, HCT may exercise flexibility with the experience or education requirement in order to recruit UAE National candidates who show potential for success in the role.

  • A relevant three year Diploma in Data Communications, Electronics, Computer Science, or Computer Engineering, with a Bachelor's Degree being preferred
  • Current IT industry certifications, with certification in Windows Servers Infrastructure, HP-UX, REDHAT, SAN technology preferred
  • A minimum of 3 years' work experience in managing Large Enterprise Wide Systems based Infrastructure and Operations; candidates without a Bachelor's Degree will be expected to demonstrate a minimum of 5 years' of progressive work experience
  • Extensive hands-on experience on all aspects of Microsoft System Administration, clustering and virtualization solutions
  • Web Hosting server management experience
  • Shell scripting on various diverse platforms for administrative tasks
  • Previous experience with SAN infrastructure and Server backup solutions
  • Knowledge of Blade, Rack Mounted Systems, Systems security and Authentication
  • Patch Management Systems experience
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills and a demonstrated competency to communicate complex technical items appropriately with internal clients
  • Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced environment in order to complete projects simultaneously to deadlines
  • Highly developed organizational skills are required
  • The ability to work effectively as a team member in a multi-cultural environment
  • A demonstrated willingness to engage in professional development activities in order to develop and improve new and current skills, and to adapt to the evolving needs of the organization
  • Hands-on experience on all aspects of Linux System Administration is desirable
  • Knowledge of Database administration support for Oracle and MS SQL would be an advantage
