Position Summary

The Sports Technician oversees daily operations of the college's sports complex and is responsible for the planning and management of male curricular and extra-curricular sports, health and fitness related activities. The incumbent ensures the development and implementation of sports complex programs and activities designed to enhance the student experience and encourage an active student body.

Requirements

In support of Emiratization, HCT may exercise flexibility with the experience or education requirement in order to recruit UAE National candidates who show potential for success in the role.

  • A Bachelor's Degree in Sports Management, Physical Education or other relevant discipline is required
  • A first aid qualification is essential
  • A National Pool Lifeguard Qualification is essential (or the ability to pass)
  • A minimum 3 years of experience working within a physical education, sports facility management or coaching role, preferably within a tertiary institution
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills and a demonstrated competency to interact with people at all levels of the organization
  • The ability to work effectively as a team member in a multi-cultural environment
  • A demonstrated willingness to engage in professional development activities in order to develop and improve new and current skills, and to adapt to the evolving needs of the organization
  • Written and spoken English is desirable
  • Fluency in written and spoken Arabic is essential
  • Execute daily operations with the sports complex, including oversight of facilities, equipment, and related resources ( the managing and overseeing is for the coordinator)
  • Identifies issues within the sports programs and/or facilities as they arise, including receiving complaints and suggestions from students, guardians and staff; and reports to health and fitness coordinator
  • Plans and coordinates sporting events and competitions, both within the college and with other regional and international educational institutions
  • Develops and maintains a network of contacts within the UAE sports community
  • Support in executing the sports complex orientation program for new students and users
  • Participates in the solicitation of sponsorship opportunities in support of sports related activities
  • Coordinates coaching for teams as required
  • Interprets, clarifies and applies non-academic policies and procedures within the college; recommends revisions as required
  • Travels to other HCT colleges to attend meetings, workshops and conferences as required
  • Develops an awareness of and respect for the customs and cultures of HCT students and employees
  • Works outside of regular business hours for college events and sporting fixtures and/or practices as required
  • Performs other related duties as assigned by the Supervisor
