Position Summary

The HCT is following the international academic standards in classifying faculty according to their qualification & experience in one of the three following ranks:

• Assistant Professor
• Associate Professor
• Professor

Faculty members are responsible for providing effective teaching and student learning support in the Petroleum Engineering Technology & Science program areas. HCT uses various learning methodologies that support learning by doing philosophy, curriculum is taught to second language learners within a student-centric learning environment that fosters respect for students, their culture, and traditions and prepares students to contribute to the positive development of the UAE. Faculty members play an important role in assisting with the development and preservation of system-wide and directorate-specific policies, and are viewed as active participants in academic and extra-curricular events at the College and within the community.

Requirements

In support of Emiratization, HCT may exercise flexibility with the experience or education requirement in order to recruit UAE National candidates who show potential for success in the role.

  • A Master's Degree in Petroleum Engineering or related field is required
  • A PhD Degree in a related field is preferred
  • A minimum of 3 years of relevant teaching experience at a university or technical college.
  • At least 3 years of relevant petroleum or related industrial experience.
  • Must be able to teach at various levels within the program areas
  • Experience in developing course curriculum as per accreditation and international standards
  • Effective presentation skills, both theoretical and practical
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills and a demonstrated competency to interact with people at all levels of the organization
  • A high degree of computer literacy and demonstrated ability to integrate technology into the learning environment and teaching methodology
  • Good hands-on practical knowledge
  • Evidence of a personal professional development plan with membership to an internationally recognized professional association being preferred
  • The ability to function as a team player within a multi-cultural work environment
  • Overseas teaching experience to non-native English speakers is desirable
  • Fluency in written and spoken English is essential
