Position Summary

The Information Technology Officer functions as part of the IT Services team and is responsible for administering and maintaining the college's IT infrastructure, including the network, server, telephone and audio-visual systems and workstations. The incumbent is expected to prioritize his/her workload appropriately to ensure that the objectives and needs of all clientele are met. The incumbent interacts with students, college staff, and external stakeholders as required.

Requirements

In support of Emiratization, HCT may exercise flexibility with the experience or education requirement in order to recruit UAE National candidates who show potential for success in the role. 

 

  • A Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering or other relevant discipline CCNA and MCSE certifications are required
  • A minimum 3 years of relevant experience supporting network operations with demonstrated competence in setting up, maintaining and troubleshooting LANs and WANs
  • Experience managing Microsoft based infrastructure and operations, including Active Directory, SCCM, SCOM, IIS, DNS/DHCP, Server Clustering, Windows Deployment Services, file and print services, and SharePoint services
  • Ability to troubleshoot and maintain the Storage Area Network, preferably on a Dell/EMC platform
  • Strong knowledge of backup and recovery processes, preferably on MS Data Protection Manager Server
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills and a demonstrated competency to interact with people at all levels of the organization
  • Fluency in written and spoken English is essential
  • Works within a team to ensure the availability and performance of network equipment, server infrastructure and related IT infrastructure for all users
  • Provides timely support and troubleshooting with respect to any issues raised by students and staff concerning IT infrastructure
  • Monitors and manages the network and ensures the accuracy of topology diagrams and other IT infrastructure documentation
  • Implements a quality assurance program for network infrastructure and related services; recommends enhancements and upgrades to improve performance to IT infrastructure
  • Participates in the design, implementation and management of the college's network and server infrastructure
  • Liaises with the IT Services team at Central Services on WAN issues and other resources hosted centrally
  • Provides management with a variety of periodic reports and analysis
  • Provides relevant training within the department and to college staff as required
  • Maintains a professional awareness of current best practices in the field of IT
  • Contributes to the development of the HCT by observing and implementing College and system-wide policies and procedures, and by participating in extra-curricular activities and community events
  • Travels to other HCT colleges to attend meetings, workshops and conferences as required
  • Works outside of normal business hours as required
