Position Summary

The Health and Safety Coordinator is responsible for offering expert knowledge and skills in order to generate and promote a positive health and safety culture. The incumbent will collaborate with stakeholders across the college directorate to plan, implement, monitor and review protective and preventative measures in order to minimize operational losses, occupational health problems, accidents and injuries. This position will also be responsible for inspecting laboratories and workplaces to minimize or eliminate hazards from processes, such as incorrect working methods, and materials, such as potentially toxic chemicals. In order to ensure safety and health compliance, the Coordinator delivers training and professional development sessions for the college community as required.

Requirements

In support of Emiratization, HCT may exercise flexibility with the experience or education requirement in order to recruit UAE National candidates who show potential for success in the role.

  • A Bachelor's Degree in a relevant discipline such as Occupational Health and Safety, Biology, Chemistry or Engineering
  • A Master's Degree in a relevant discipline is preferred
  • A minimum 10 years' Occupational Health and Safety experience
  • Previous experience working in an advisory capacity in Health and Safety
  • The ability to demonstrate the application of risk assessment to college operations and activities
  • Ability to maintain a high level of accuracy and confidentiality concerning employee files
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills and a demonstrated competency to collaborate with people at all levels of the organization in order to determine health and safety needs, ensure compliance and provide training sessions
  • Fluency in written and spoken English is essential
