Position Summary

The Independent Learning Centre (ILC) Coordinator supports the teaching and learning objectives of the college by providing leadership in the development and promotion of independent learning skills. The incumbent coordinates the operation of the ILC, or its equivalent, within the college and provides students and faculty with independent learning assistance using current technologies and resources that support student learning and development.

 

Requirements

 

In support of Emiratization, HCT may exercise flexibility with the experience or education requirement in order to recruit UAE National candidates who show potential for success in the role.

  • A Master's Degree in a relevant discipline is required (e.g. - Education, English, Educational Technology, Library and Information Science)
  • A Bachelor's Degree in a relevant discipline (e.g. - Education, English, Educational Technology, Library and Information Science) AND an internationally recognized EFL/ESL qualification will also be considered
  • A minimum 5 years of related professional experience in an educational setting
  • Previous experience managing an ILC or self-access center
  • Experience developing student's independent learning skills through the development of materials, resources, and teaching and learning strategies
  • Demonstrated commitment to student-centered learning principles and practices
  • A high degree of computer literacy and demonstrated ability to integrate technology in teaching and learning
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills and a demonstrated competency to interact with people at all levels of the organization
  • Highly developed organizational, analytical and problem solving skills are required
  • The ability to work effectively as a team member in a multi-cultural environment
  • A demonstrated willingness to engage in professional development activities in order to develop and improve new and current skills, and to adapt to the evolving needs of the organization
  • EFL experience is desirable
  • Experience working with mobile technology (e.g. - tablets) and related authoring environment is desirable
  • Online course development and delivery experience using learning management systems (e.g. - Blackboard) is desirable
