Position Summary

The Media and Community Relations Senior Officer plays a leading role in community outreach efforts, which include public relations, media relations, advertising, coordinating college guests, and assisting with the organization of college events. The incumbent will works closely with Program Chairs, Faculty and the Academic department to publish articles and interviews about student and alumni success stories, projects, international field trips and other best practices at the college. The incumbent builds relationships with top tier English and Arabic media companies and sponsors, pitches stories to the media, distributes press releases, and moderates interviews.

Requirements
       
  • A Bachelor's Degree in Communications, Journalism, Marketing or other relevant discipline is required
  • A minimum 3 years of related work experience, preferably within an educational institution
  • Strong English and Arabic verbal and written communication skills and a demonstrated competency to interact with people at all levels of the organization
  • Experience in writing and editing materials in Arabic and English Language
  • A high degree of computer literacy including knowledge of MS Office
  • Well-developed organizational skills are required coupled with a self-starting attitude
  • The ability to work effectively as part of a team in a multi-cultural environment and to cope with pressure in a positive manner while working to deadlines within a busy and demanding environment
  • A demonstrated willingness to engage in professional development activities in order to develop and improve new and current skills, and to adapt to the evolving needs of the organization
  • Experience coordinating special events and/or marketing projects is desirable
